Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer
Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer received a B.S. Degree in 1982 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1986 from Iowa State University. After a few years of practice in Cedar Falls and St. Louis, she and her husband moved back to Ames to open Ames Pet Hospital in 1991.
Dr. Stohlmeyer is a member of American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association.
She lives in the country with her husband (Joe), and their 2 children- daughter (Hunter) and son (Joey). They have 2 dogs, (Bogie and Rocky, both Small Munsterlanders) and 4 cats (Maverick, Nikita- Norwegian Forest Cats, Charm, and Daffy- shelter kitties)
Her interests include reading, painting (water color and oil), bird watching, and watching her children play sports.
Dr. Margaret Elliott
Dr. Margaret Elliott received her BS degree at ISU in Microbiology in 1997. After completing her PhD in immunology in 2002 and a postdoctoral program at the University of Nebraska Medical center in Omaha, she moved back to Ames in 2005 to work in dairy cattle research at the National Animal Disease Center. Having always wanted to be a veterinarian, Dr. Elliott chose to leave research to pursue a veterinary degree. She completed her DVM in 2012 and is very much enjoying her new career. Not only working with companion animals, but also the people who love them!
Dr. Elliott is a member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Her interests include canine performance (obedience/agility) and pet dog training, training for behavioral issues and teaching training to pet owners. Dr. Elliott is a certified training partner with the Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behavior.
Dr. Anthony Haban
Dr. Anthony Haban received his B.S. degree at Iowa State University in Animal Science. He then continued his education at Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2014.
Dr. Haban is a member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Haban lives in Nevada with his wife (Allison), daughter (Cora), son (Miles), and their dog (Marley).
His interests include hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, playing sports and pretty much anything that has to do with being outdoors.
Dr. Lydia Spray
Dr. Lydia Spray is excited to be a part of the Ames Pet Hospital team! Dr. Spray received her B.A. at Iowa State University in Biology. She then continued for another four years to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2014.
She is a member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
She lives with her husband, Kent, and their dog, August, in Ankeny. They are expecting a baby boy late summer 2016. August has certainly given Dr. Spray lots of hands-on practice with behavior issues! She also has an interest in dentistry and preventive care.
Her hobbies include running, cooking, and camping/backpacking.
Joe Stohlmeyer, Practice Manager
Joe is a familiar figure at Ames Pet Hospital. He is married to Dr. Kathy Stohlmeyer and assisted in starting the business in 1991. He has been working as practice manager since.
Joe grew up in Ames and attended Iowa State University.
His interests include hunting, fishing, golfing, watching his kids play sports, and training his dogs.
Deb Clark, Groomer
Deb has a passion for animals. She is a Professional Certified Groomer and has been grooming for 10 years. Deb continues to learn at continuing education seminars each year. She has worked at Newton Animal Clinic, Pet Kingdom in Newton, and Ames Pet Hospital.
Deb lives in Neveda, Iowa and has a son (Logan), daughter (Leisha), and a grandson (Kayden).
Her interests include traveling, shopping, and doing flower arrangements.
Richelle Whittlesey, Office Manager
Richelle is from upstate New York where she worked as a veterinary assistant. She spent the last few years in Des Moines working as a veterinary technician and animal caretaker manager at a busy multi-doctor practice. Richelle started here at Ames Pet Hospital in early November 2014.
Richelle lives here in Ames with her fiance, Zach, her four dogs, Misjif, Ryleigh, Jitterbugg, and Cash, and her two cats, Pancake and Waffles.
Her interests include spending time with her friends, family, pets, and with all of you!
Amber Ringgenberg, Patient Care Coordinator
Amber was born and raised in Iowa and has always had a love for animals. She received her B.S. in Animal Science at Iowa State University in May of 2015 and then started working here at Ames Pet Hospital in September 2015.
Amber lives in Ames with her cat, Finn, and her bearded dragon, Lady Nottingham.
Her interests include animal behavior, horse-back riding, photography, taekwondo, hiking, and fishing.
Marie Chase, Client Care Coordinator
Marie has moved around a few too many times but ended up in Ames! She is a little newer to veterinary medicine but adores animals and the people that care for them. She started here at Ames Pet Hospital in August 2015.
Marie lives in Ames with her two cats, Colby and Kitten, and her dog, Lucy.
Her interest include reading, cuddling her animals, traveling, art, and getting to know all of you!
